Introduction of Ayurveda
The science which deals with the principles and practice of the ways of healthy and happy living is known as Ayurveda. According to Indian philosophy, the Vedas are treatises that encompass knowledge of the whole universe. They are 4 numbers,Viz.RigVeda, Yajur Veda, Sam Veda and Atharva Veda. Among these Atharva Veda deals with different facts of Health Welfare. So it is consider that Ayurveda is part and partial of this Veda, because it gives the knowledge of the whole Ayu(the Life).
History of Ayurveda
From time immemorial, this science which was only utilized for treatment of Devata's at the time of illness was thought to Bharatdhwaja by Indra. Then the skill of Ayurveda passes to different sages of ancient Indian like Charak, Sushrata and Bagbhat who made the people known about the medical value of plants and minerals through their texts, basing upon which all other system of treatments standards. Thus the pioneer of all medical science, "Ayurveda" was developed in India around 5,000 B.C and still remains as the father of all system of medicine, which have gained world wide reputation as Indian system of medicine now a days.
Functioning of Ayurveda
It is a matter of pleasure that the people of Keonjhar District are getting medical aid through Ayurveda system of medicine since 1949. The Inspector of Ayurveda Central Circle have been started functioning at Keonjhar since 6.5.75 as a Head of office. Prior to this,17 numbers of Govt. Ayurvedic Dispensaries are functioning under the control of Superintendent of Ayurvedic Institution, Bhubaneswar. At present, there are 48 Ayurvedic Dispensaries and one Unani dispensary in Keonjhar District are functioning under the control of this circle and rendering their services to the public at large through government supply medicines as well as mixture of local medicinal plants as Keonjhar district is blessed with dense forest by the nature. So it become easier to the physicians of this science to deal with the diseases of the sufferings through such folk lower medicines. Some of the feature are given below.
1. Pratisyaya ( Common cold )
Leaf juice of Tulasi, Vasanga and Zinger added equally with honey amounting 15ml to be taken thrice daily.
2. Kosthabadhata ( Constipation )
Powder form of trifala ( Harida, Bahada and Amla ) two grams each added with water may be taken in morning & evening in empty stomach.
3. Skin diseases
For skin disease like scabies, eczema oil of Karanja or neem seeds may be applied locally on the affected area of the body twice daily.
4. Worm infection
Water juice of Haldi or leaf juice of pineapple two tea spoon full may be taken in empty stomach twice daily in morning and evening at least for seven days.
5. Kamala (Jaundice)
Root juice of Katha Manjuati 15 ml. with curd may be taken twice daily.
6. Bata Roga
Leaf juice of Prasarani two tea spoon full along with a honey may be taken twice daily for any kind of Bata disease for 15 to 30 days according to the prognosis of the disease.
Besides this the vital principle of treatment in Ayurveda is to prevent the diseases which can be given through Panchakarma therapy i.e. Bamana, Virechana, Nasya, Basti, and Snehana as well as Yoga and Naturopathy to keep the vitiated Tridashas (Bata, Pita and Kappa) in equilibrium stage.
In Ayurvedic science surgery by means of Kshyara sutra for ano rectal diseases like Piles (Arsha), Fistula (Bhagandara) and fissure are wildly accepted by people now a days which can be done by the advice of concerned physician posted in different government Ayurvedic dispensaries in the district.
It is proposed to set up herbal garden in the nearby dispensary to get the medicinal plants in hand for better treatment of tribal people of Keonjhar district through folklore medicines by which immunity power for preventive and curative aspects will increase and pollution of atmosphere can be controlled.

Answer- No, Govt.Ayurvedic Dispensary do not provide any type of Indoor services. It can only be available in Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital located at Bhubaneswar, Puri, Balangiri, Berhampur and Paikamal.

Answer- Yes, It can be cured according to the age of the patient and chronicity of the disease.
